Today we’d like to introduce you to Darion Brown.
Darion, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a young man and an actor, I have been inspired by the work ethics and talents of the great Denzel Washington. After studying and watching his movies, I thought of an idea to create an impression that I performed for my Aunt Lawanda that she absolutely went crazy for! Every family function she would request that I perform it in front of the family. It’s requested at many of our family functions and I enjoy seeing people laugh and be happy. Also, I’ve done small plays in the past and proceeding the performance, I would be like “wow that felt good!” My junior year in high school I decided to take a drama class and I could remember after performing a scene and observing the audience’s (classmates) happy reaction encouraged me! I went to the drama teacher and asked for her reaction and her response were “you’re all right!” But I didn’t allow that to discourage me. It felt like I had just struck gold and at that moment realized that I just found my calling. To tell story’s and play characters that positively impact people.
For the most part honestly, it has been a steady rising journey. Every season has brought different obstacles, challenges & lessons. but I love learning and getting stronger so I’m enjoying the process. I thank God for taking me Through the steps of having no connections, no information on how to started absolutely nothing and just going hard and figuring it out sometime bumping my head sometimes but we here now !
Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part honestly it has. I thank God for taking me through the steps. I sometimes know as people we can want success overnight. However, it’s just been a journey from doing radio, commercials, short films, medium films and now we’re doing feature films up to this point it seems like a gradual ride where I’ve learned to respect every stage of the process.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
One of the things I am most thankful for is that I’m really respected in my community with my friends and family which I am grateful for. My work starts with the people! I have a nonprofit and I also work in the school district of my hometown helping kids that grew up just like me. I thought becoming a Superstar first would initially take place before I received the type of respect I desired from the people I influenced. But interestingly enough, I’ve had a chance to do everything that I thought I would do Pre-fame, so I realized I didn’t necessarily need it in order to feel good about who I am.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I’m from Lansing, Michigan, and when the winter months arrive, I become sad because it’s so cold and gloomy. I love the winter months here in Dallas. It’s like a perfect 75° ! However, I’m still getting use to the warmer months because sometimes when the sun is nowhere to be found it’s still 100°. Dallas also has some of the best food and I love the culture here. One my favorite things to do here is after I’ve completed my scene work, classes or Meetings for the day, I drive through the downtown area and look at the skyline while listening to some music and just Dream. I love that.
