Today we’d like to introduce you to David Moon.
Thanks for sharing your story with us David. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The Moon family has been in the dry cleaning industry for over 30 years. Eco Cleaners originally began as Golden Park Cleaners in the mid-90s. Around 2008, we decided to direct our efforts at being ecologically conscious about our dry cleaning solvents. We underwent a $100,000 makeover to completely redo the store’s design as well as the dry cleaning machines to be compatible with eco-friendly dry cleaning solvents. From recycled wood flooring to LED lighting, we try to do our part to decrease our footprint on the environment. We proudly serve our community with biodegradable solvents while providing the best service and quality.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The early stages of Golden Park Cleaners took time to gain traction. The original store front was not as attractive as it could have been when we took ownership and business potential was not being realized. But over the years, we built a strong customer base through outstanding customer service and high quality products. Now we have customers who have been with us for over 15 years who can attest to our workmanship.
Please tell us about Eco Cleaners.
Our dry cleaning solvents are biodegradable. We used recycled materials where possible (e.g. recycled paper garment covers, recycled plastic garment bags, reusable Garmento bags). We offer 30+ years of experience. We know how to handle clothes the right way. Our care for our customers is evident by our striving to make our customer interactions personal and not just business. The owners physically being on site helps with this goal. We provide a wide range of services from leathers, wedding gowns, curtains, and more. We also provide tailoring services. The seamstress previously owned Lucy’s Tailor in the 90s, which was once featured in the annual “Best of Dallas” awards. She has over 30 years’ experience in tailoring. CW33 did a feature on Eco Cleaners in the late 2000s as part of their green businesses feature. Plus, where else do you find 2 comfortable leather sofas for customers?
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Working with my parents in the cleaners. I hated it because it robbed my summers but I see how it built character and appreciation for hard work and the value of money. Plus, I got to see my parents working hard for our family.
