Derrick, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Back in August 2016, after being frustrated with my employer at the time, I decided to use my creativity and love for sports at the same time. After a co-worker told me how I implement sports to everyday life, that’s how WhyNotSports the brand came about!! After having success as an athlete and a multi-unit manager, sports really played a major contribution of taking this entrepreneurial route.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely Not, it was a challenge for a few reasons because I am not a tech-savvy person and not really knowing the do’s & don’ts of being a speaker or host of a podcast.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
By day, I’m in logistics, where I lead, develop and train hourly associates to prepare them for the next level. By night, I’m an award winning content creator. I’m most proud of the people who were able to take my leadership and knowledge to grow their careers and add to their salary. I believe what sets me apart from others is I will take time out my schedule to help those in need and I genuinely want to see people succeed who really puts the time and effort to reach the next level.

I’m really a homebody, when the phrase Netflix and Chill became popular, I was like, “This is Me”!!
