Today we’d like to introduce you to Diego Bravo.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Diego. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up I was such a sports kids, I was on my first soccer team when I was five years old and played all the way until I was 17. At a very young age, I was bullied and the way I coped with it was through poetry. I then slowly started falling in love with how much music began to save me from my reality and situations. So I started writing my own songs. When I was 17, I started dreaming that I wanted to do this and do music on a serious level. I asked my mom If I could get a vocal coach. Also, at that time, I was accepted to be in a select-soccer team for the first time in all of my years playing soccer, so it was kind of a big deal.
Due to the lack of finances, I wasn’t able to do both. So I chose music! I started vocal lessons right away. They lasted four months straight, but then my vocal coach at the time had to move away to another state. I didn’t know what this meant for my career, but I knew I had to continue to think positive. One day during summer break, I was playing soccer with a group of friends. One of them said he knew a producer that taught voice. Little did I know this moment would lead to something I dreamed of so much. This led me to perform all over Dallas. I was able to work in the studio and create music. I learned and grew so much as an artist. I learned to control my voice and express myself through dance/choreography. More recently, I’m completing my first album.
Has it been a smooth road?
I would say managing being a teenager with the business responsibility of being an artist was my biggest struggle. Building a brand, designing it, staying in rehearsals along with going to school and working a job is not what normal teenagers sign up for. During my sophomore year through my senior year, I was recording in the studio till 3 AM. I had to keep my grades up and go to work on the days I wasn’t recording. I wouldn’t change it for the world. It has helped me grow and become the artist I am today. From the start, it was always my goal to be involved in my music career in every aspect. At times I’ve had to put my career before my personal life, and I signed up for a 4-semester program to learn how to edit videos and pictures so I would push my career as far as I could. From music production to art design, how videos are shot & edited, the cover art of my songs, are aspects of my artistry that I wanted to oversee and have artistic control over.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I’ve had the privilege of performing all over the Dallas Metroplex. I’ve done a half-time show for the Texas Legends semi-pro basketball team owned by Mark Cuban and the “National Anthem” at the Women’s Pro Basketball Dallas Wings game held at the University of Texas at Arlington. I have had the honor of performing as an opener at one of Dallas’ Historical Landmarks, The Majestic Theater for the Dallas Hip Hop Festival. Some other notable performances are the State Fair of Texas and a television spot performing at Good Morning Texas WFAA channel 8. I’m most proud of always bringing a Latin flare to every performance & getting to share my culture with people every time I perform on stage.
What are your plans for the future? What are you looking forward to or planning for – any big changes?
I see myself touring all around the world, performing on big stages & growing as an artist and as a person. I’m currently finishing a list of songs for my future album and continuing to create a unique sound.
