Meet Dominique Ransom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Ransom.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Dominique. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I haven’t been tattooing very long and my story is probably a little bit different than most. I never wanted to be a tattoo artist; it’s something that I definitely didn’t see myself doing so I think that I have a different kind of love for this industry!

But I have always been interested in tattoos so I was getting tattooed regularly by an artist and I had been coming to him for quite a while. I would bring him some of my own drawings and he would obviously do his own version or Tattoo it exactly. He had mentioned to me one day that maybe that I should do this for a living that he thinks that I would be really good at it and basically jazzing it up.

And one day he had a set up ready to go and he asked if I could tattoo him just to see what it would be like and I did it and it was awesome and that was basically the turning point for me and made me super interested in wanting to become a Tattooer.

I went and did an apprenticeship and so on and so on and now we are here three years later 💕

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a 50% smooth and 50% rough. I have definitely made a lot of friends along the way and I’ve met a handful of enemies but I think that’s just the name of the game right?

I’ve gotten shit because I’m a female artist, issues because I’m a female of color, I’ve got issues just plainly because people just don’t like me I know I can be a bit much at times but we all have our moments 😂

Please tell us about your work.
I currently work for a badass shop called Cedar Springs Tattoo.

I am right in the heart of the iconic a Gayborhood of Dallas I absolutely love being down there. I love the people I love the environment I’m all about it!

As far as what I specialize in, I just like to do bold lines regardless it be color or black and gray as long as we have some line work formula down I’m all In!

I think right now I’m known for my floral work, that’s what’s been keeping my books pretty lined up 👍

I also have a lot of people do come to me because they say they like my bright colors that I use.

I love all the guys that I work with we are all totally different and we’re just a good group of people ❤️

And I think what sets me apart from a lot of other tattooers is just the way I have my approach on tattooing it’s not a male or female standpoint it’s just the way that Dominique Ransom does things and I think a lot of people are down with it and it’s very important to me to make my client feel important because at the end the day I would like the client word to turn into more of a friendship because I think tattooing is very personal and I like my people to feel comfortable with me.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I personally don’t have a favorite pinpoint memory from my childhood I had a pretty cool growing up it definitely had its hard times but I had a lot of laughter and I still laugh a lot as a grown-up.
