Today we’d like to introduce you to Donnie Tipton and Kodi Statum.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Donnie and Kodi. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Kodi: Donnie and I are god-brothers. We have been moving family from the ages of 9 and 10 years old. If an aunt, sister, or girl cousin needed to move, we were always on call. We have always been a moving team.
Donnie: One day Jackie Tipton, my wife, was getting her hair done by my Aunt Mich. My aunt didn’t know it then but she was speaking something big into existence. She said to my wife, “Donnie and Kodi should start a moving company and they should name it Uncle Brother’s Moving Company.” Thank God for people who see things in you that you oftentimes don’t see in yourself. My aunt recognized the gifts and talents that Kodi and I have. Jackie told us what Aunt Mich said and asked us our thoughts. Kodi and I discussed the idea often but at the time, we were not ready to make such a life-changing career move.
Fast forward five years later, the season had changed. I had been at my job for eight years and the desire to become an entrepreneur was so strong I could ignore it no longer.
Kodi: Donnie said God told him it was time to step out on faith and leave his job to pursue the dream that he and I had discussed years ago. Therefore U.B.M. became an official business on July 15th, 2020 and it has been nothing but a blessing.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Becoming U.B.M. has been full of triumphs and learning experiences. Within the first few months of launching our business, we were blessed to be booked 7 out of 9 weekends straight. What amazes us the most is that those moves were booked because of customer recommendations—strictly word of mouth.
Our struggles are what we call growing pains. We are a new up and coming moving company that is trying to take over the world. Our goal is to build a brand that is going to last generations to come. That is no small feat. We are competing with veteran moving companies that have been established for over 20 years. Establishing our identity and voice is a healthy challenge that we will continue to rise to in the process of reaching our goals.
Uncle Brother’s Moving Company – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Uncle Brother’s Moving Company is all about F.A.M.I.L.Y. We are Faith-based, Affordable, Meticulous, Intergous, Loyal, and YES, we will go out of our way to make your move feel more like home. As a team, we try to think of the frustrations, concerns, and needs of our customers and put them first. That is why we are a Flat Rate moving company. Moving can be stressful and full of unplanned events. However, we believe the cost of a move should not be one of them. What we quote our customers is typically the price they pay. We believe in being upfront and honest and taking the guesswork out of the cost of a move.
U.B.M. takes great pride in having the opportunity to be apart of our customer’s new beginnings. Whether it is a joyous or uncertain change, we take pleasure in helping our customers literally cross the threshold of their “new” smoothly. There is nothing more rewarding at the end of the day, then reading the reviews of our satisfied customers. These reviews give us the encouragement we need to make the next move even better. We live by our motto: “MOVE YOU LIKE FAMILY!”
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
First and foremost, having positive and uplifting connections with new families is a very important success to Uncle Brother’s Moving Company. To have an upstanding reputation gives us something to be truly proud of. The more we network the larger our company base has the opportunity to grow. The expansion of Uncle Brother’s Moving Co. LLC into other cities in the next five years is a long term goal we are working diligently to succeed. We can’t wait to become a major moving company resource that moves families from state to state.
