Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Tondre.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2013, myself and business partner decided to resign from a fortune 500 company and co-founded a boutique wealth management firm located in Southlake TX, called TL Private Wealth. We began to notice the shift in the industry and billions of dollars leaving the traditional wire house, banks, brokerage firms and insurance company filtering into the independent channel. We were very thankful for the experience and knowledge gained at our previous firm, but felt we could deliver a more unbiased, customized and personal level of service to the wealth management business. We focused on working with a small group of clients that’s manageable and allows us to address all key wealth management issues. For this select group, we serve as the primary trusted advisor through each stage of life and address complex issues our clients may face.
Has it been a smooth road?
1. Finding the right type of people to help grow our business who share the same values and philosophy as we do.
2. When building a business there’s always obstacles that are unpredictable. A few that we faced is building out our technology platform.

TL Private Wealth works with a small group of individuals and families. For this select group, we are the primary trusted advisor through each stage of life. Through a customized process we provide sophisticated strategies helping our clients create, grow, protect, and effectively transfer wealth during life and at death.
We believe once you’ve accumulated a certain amount of assets you don’t have to call a 1-800 for advice. You have the option of working with someone who knows your goals, family dynamics and objectives.
At the end of 2013, TL Private Wealth ended its first year in business managing 36M in assets under management. In 2014 they increased by 44%, 20% in 2015 and 34% in 2016. Their assets under management are currently 140M and expected to finish 2017 well above 175M.
Within the past year we’ve added 5 wealth managers to the firm and looking to continue to grow our team. We don’t advertise, do radio shows or hold seminars.
The only way we get introduced to new potential clients is by taking care of our current clientele and they share their experience with people they feel would benefit from our services.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We believe the DFW area is a great location for our type of business. The Metroplex is home to multiple large corporations. It’s centrally located in the United States that allows us to serve our clients who reside outside of the Dallas area.
