Meet Elle Lucas of That Keller Media Chic in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Lucas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m the oldest of four with a masters in adulthood at seven. I guess you can say I grew up a little faster than the average child. I was cooking and cleaning and had made the conscious decision that when I was older, I’d be on the Oprah show. In high school, I signed up for something called the New101. I worked for the Oklahoman paper on weekend days for free and Sonic for food that wasn’t good for me. Laughs, my mom made sure we had healthy three-course meals, but… I liked burgers and chicken dinners. When I was 15, I attended a program called Best For Life which opened up a radio station called KALU just for me. It was at that moment I knew just because the opportunity wasn’t available didn’t mean I couldn’t request for one to become available for me.

Years later, I would become a nightlife promoter, photographer, and creative media connect for DJs and other local promoters. I did this while working for a company I hated. One day I walked out and became my own boss. Two weeks later had a trip booked in another state for a Lawyers Convention. Things never looked down. Five years later, I’m still running my own business, but it moved from home (Oklahoma City) to my new home ( Keller TX). My focus is primarily medical marketing with emphasis on event planning, but I’m still the social connector. I know people.  The way my personality is set up, everyone becomes friends when we’re out and about. I am the selfie queen and the dutchess of Yelp. I started a nonprofit with my child called Coats For Cocktails, Raising for the needy and having a drink at the same time four years ago and I received the BLAC INC media award in 2017.

Has it been a smooth road?
The day I walked out of that unnamed company, I shed one tear down my left cheek thinking, what am I doing? I quickly wiped that tear and headed to chickFilA with a smile and told myself I’ve been preparing for this. I started off with a bang. Everyone wanted to use me. I was cheap, new, great personality, and biting off more than I could chew.
That was the struggle. Not knowing my worth. Charging less doing more, not adding the tax. It’s hard starting alone when it was just easy side gig money. You’re worried about who has the money to do it better. Your name being tarnished, your brand not branding. Then I learned to be better with my business. Take more classes, take time to myself, take time for my business and ask for help. The hardest thing to do is the easiest answer when its really needed. A quick yes or no.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with That Keller Media Chic – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As a creative director, I wear many hats. I can do almost anything under the journalism umbrella, but social media marketing, red carpets, and prosecco are my addictions. I’m great at bringing the awareness of your business to the forefront, I’m the optimizer of all your social needs. Being local allows me to have the face to face interactions with you, the followers who become partners, and being remote allows me to bring you more of an ROI. Engagement is key!

I’m a media mentor. The teens of Keller ISD schools mentor with me and get some red carpet events on their resumes’. I’ve worked with politicians, been at inductions taking pictures with the Mayor, helped many nonprofits grow their needs for engagement, dollars, and volunteers.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
It’s huge. Coming from Oklahoma, I feel like a spoiled newborn in a whole new world. Theirs so many opportunities, jobs, and people, and I love people!

The traffic is the only thing I hate.
