“Heart attack doesn’t have to be our family history and diabetes doesn’t have to be our destiny”

– Shalom

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been relatively smooth due to God’s grace, an extremely supportive network of family, friends, colleagues and sorors. The bumps I have encountered along the way were primarily due to internal fear. These fears caused me to procrastinate. Since then,  we’ve been walking in the spirit ” We’re just going to go for this thing anyway.”

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I would have included a non-profit arm of The Maxine Firm from the onset. The Maxine Firm Foundation will do its programmatic efforts in 2020. Our work is primarily community-based. We would be able to reach more people in rural and urban communities with grant opportunities.
