Meet Empress Hyder of iHartDesignz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Empress Hyder.

Empress, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The start-up of iHartDesignz came about in 2015, but I never did anything with it to this extent besides digital and printed projects; birthday Chalkboards, business cards, invitation, resumes, etc.

With a B.B.A in Marketing from the great Prairie View A & M University, I’ve always been eager to be self-employed. I believe in self-support, hard work, and perseverance. I would label myself the queen of all trades, or the woman of 1 million brands being iHartDesignz is only one of many.

Ok, so let us fast forward to NOW! And the unintentionally relaunch in March 2018, when I added t-shirt designing to my personal resume. It was in the planning phase of my son’s 3rd birthday, and PAW PATROL was the theme. In this case, we needed shirts which at the time I was open to outsourcing.

Since I had already created the design, I just needed someone to create the printed product. Yet, after reaching out to multiple people, I felt their prices were a little ridiculous, so I created them myself. I did what everyone does and posted t-shirts, DIY coloring books, customer treat boxes, party signage, etc. on Facebook and it took off.

At first, I was not prepared to take money for my work because I feared to fail, but I truly just put myself out there, and 6 months to date I’ve completed over 300 orders!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Oh No! It takes money to make money, so when I decided this is what I wanted to do, I tackled it full speed. I was focused on having everything in order, but sometimes things never go as planned.

Some of the struggles have been the following:
-lack of support
-lack of resources
-maintaining a business and working 50 plus hour weeks
-indecisive customers/lack of feedback from customers
-loss vs. profit

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the iHartDesignz story. Tell us more about the business.
iHartDesignz is your one-stop shop for all things custom; (i.e., Shirts & apparel, tumblers, mugs, wedding items, wall decor, invitations, business card designs, etc.)

Currently, we are most known for being the home of the $10 statement tees and our exclusive Gold $1 Be Humble tees, just to name a few!

I am most proud that we started with nothing; absolutely no material, now our inventory is piling out, and orders are going out without having to wait on the middleman.

Our items are hand-made with love; therefore with our pick-up option, my customers get a chance to get up close and personal with the woman behind the name.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Neither has been a factor in the success of my business/businesses.

With my presence as, The Real Empress H on social media, it hasn’t been extremely hard to grab the customer’s attention. Word of mouth has been my biggest form of advertisement, simply by knowing the right people.

Although I haven’t had a design go viral yet, I’m speaking it into existence within the days ahead of us.
