Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Hurst.
Eric, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
As a teenager growing up in Austin, TX, I would often go with my grandmother to edit videos at church. One day, she could not be there so I had to step in to edit a wedding video on my own. The customer’s satisfaction with the final product (and monetary appreciation!) really motivated me to pursue videography. I started my first company, where I was solely shooting and editing videos at local events.
After growing my customer base, I employed an outside editor and decided to expand into photography. I bought a camera, took an orientation class and found a new passion! I eventually joined forces with another group of guys with the same interests and we created a successful media company.
When I moved to Dallas, I found the local market was saturated with photographers. So I searched for a niche and chose interactive photo booths, which not only have traditional printing capability with customized photo borders but also allow for texting, emailing and posting photos to social media. Now I have a company that still handles all aspects of media, but with an emphasis on interactive photo booths.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. One of the main struggles is increasing promotions and giving more people a chance to see the technology that we have available. So I am very grateful for opportunities like this to tell our story! It can also be a challenge to stay on top of the latest technology, but I am plugged in with different organizations and expos that keep us on our toes.
Please tell us about Snapshot Mediawork. What should we know?
Snapshot Mediaworks is a full-service media company (photography, videography, interactive photo booths) serving the entire Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. We provide services for all types of individual, corporate and community needs, and we are an approved, preferred vendor with several local event facilities, cities and even school districts.
Snapshot Mediaworks places special emphasis on our interactive photo booths. This includes units that are stationary (Snapshot Selfie Station) and mobile (Snapshot Roamer). What sets us apart is that we provide creative photography, videography and the most cutting edge technology available concerning photo booths. We are most proud that we have been able to stay on top and provide affordable prices for our customers.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
The media industry will continue to evolve towards more technologically advanced photo booths and increasingly enhanced options. We can see this evolution already because traditional photo booths where a limited number of people have to cram inside are becoming obsolete.
