Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Wright.
Erica, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, I eventually left the nest to receive my Bachelor’s degree from Ball State University’s School of Communication in Muncie, Indiana. I then went on to receive my Master’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing and Corporate Communications from Georgetown University. Three months before graduating from Georgetown, I decided I would move to Dallas after constantly hearing about the inexpensive cost of living and opportunities professionally and personally. So, I set out applying to jobs and researching places to live, securing a job two weeks before my lease was up.
Shortly after moving to Dallas, Texas in 2012, I launched Kinetic Occasions after noticing the lack of attention given to start-ups and small businesses that dominated the area. While many companies had limited resources and funding, events were still needed; branding was still important; engagement with the community was invaluable. Thus, I stepped in to support and deliver.
Currently, I organize and help to manage events such as Fundraisers, Tradeshows, Lunch & Learns, Retirement Parties and more. Through Kinetic Occasions, my goal is to provide reliable and energetic services no matter one’s situation or budget.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My main challenge has always been managing a full-time job while creating and running a business, in addition to many other side hustles, like most people today. However, as we enter into a new decade, I’m truly focused more on my personal goals – channeling my semi-entrepreneurial spirit. This includes continuing to provide marketing consulting services to both local and remote small businesses, venturing into fashion with my new blog, “EWright’s Wardrobe”, expanding Kinetic Occasions, LLC to serve more clients, and serving as the PR strategist behind my mom’s new Amazon book, “The Making of a MillionHeir,” a reminder that we’re all heirs of Christ and should embrace becoming more spiritually aware of who we are and who we’re intended to be “in Him.”
Please tell us about your company.
Kinetic Occasions, LLC understands the importance of a person or company’s vision, image and most importantly, their budget. What sets us apart is our expertise in not only event planning and management services, but our marketing and public relations experience as well. Essentially, we serve as a one-stop-shop to support and deliver a fully supported event and marketing plan.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from my childhood would be taking my first trip to Denver, Colorado. I was about 8 years old, and flying alone, to visit my aunt. I believe this trip was the foundation of my independence and traveling experiences.
