Today we’d like to introduce you to Ericka Ellis.
Ericka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Some days, I’d be on fire, other days I’d flicker because of my mood or circumstances.
My clothes were tight, I spent more time working on things I didn’t enjoy than working on things I did, and I constantly felt like I was getting behind because I was too distracted watching everyone else hustle and make gains towards their dreams.
Meanwhile, I was on my couch trying to find a quick solution to my seeming problem until I realized I was the problem! I WAS THE PROBLEM! It wasn’t an “aha!” moment that condemned me, it was one that LIT MY FIRE!
I realized things had to CHANGE. Why? Because I no longer felt like myself. The vibrant, uplifting self I grew to love and others were drawn to, I needed to get MY fire back!
I made the CHOICE to do what it takes to be the best version of me and began a quest to GET LIT, STAY LIT. I’m not talking about the new term many in this generation are talking about as far as “EXCITEMENT” goes. It is a FIRE that burns in your SOUL!
Now, I do epic things like work with incredible clients, mentor women across the nation, dance around the world with my hot husband & fiery son, and teach teenagers & women how to achieve the life they’ve dreamed of!
Since I can relate to the struggles of most women, I’ve made it my mission to, ‘Spread Hope Like Wildfire,’ by helping women break free and walk into the life they’ve always dreamed of on FIRE! My blog, my non-profit, podcast, my books, YouTube channel, Fire Socials, etc. are all designed and created specifically to inspire individuals to GET YOUR FIRE BACK & KEEP IT!
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, in fact, the road to purpose is designed to be difficult. This journey is more about producing something in you than it is about you producing. I liken this to a discovery process, helping you explore the depths of your passion and your commitment to your goals. This is often an opportunity to discover what you are made of. This is when I came face-to-face with the reality of my purpose. I had to see what I was made of and it was hard because it went against my comfort zone. Like me, you will see how disciplined you are in terms of time management, dedication, focus, and intentionality. If you find that you are weak in any of those areas, then this is the perfect time to develop those characteristics as it will move you in the direction of your goals.
My advice is to stay consistent. Consistency breeds confidence and results. I had the ‘start-stop’ syndrome for so many years and it only delayed the success I was working towards.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am known as the Fire Starter, who fearlessly serves as the match for those who have lost their spark in life, purpose or relationships. I ignite women and youth to pursue their goals with passion while overcoming adversity. This is most evident in my work as a published author, speaker, success coach, podcaster, and Philanthropist. I founded my nonprofit, Think.Love.Smart, a 501c3 organization for girls in foster care with the mission to, “Move Foster Girls Forward,” through mentorship and education. I am most proud of the work of the women and youth I am able to work with. It’s rewarding to see their growth in their personal lives and professionally. I act only as an accountability partner to bring out the very best in the individuals I’m blessed to work with. It is both inspiring and empowering to witness and experience the power of accountability that helps break glass ceilings and the doubt that’s been holding my clients and our youth back.
What sets me apart is my personal experiences of overcoming the stigma of being a foster child. I empower women to destroy the idea that they are a product of their environment as being a product of their expectations. I am able to connect to a woman’s pain while walking her through her healing and discovering her potential.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Wherever you are planted, you should sow seeds, however, I believe I have an advantage because I’m in one of the best places to do it! Dallas has been rated as one of the top ten friendliest places to start a business! Now if that doesn’t excite you, I don’t know what will!
As I am an advocate for youth in foster care as well as women empowerment, Dallas has been a great place to spark change. Aside from the market need, the support has been incredible. People are moved by authenticity and being a voice for underserved demographics, and I have only experienced this kind of response in Dallas. People show up for you if they believe in you. Dallas is a big city with a small town feel. If you have a vision, please do not hesitate to move forward because you think Dallas is “too big” or that the city is too saturated for your gifts and talents. Your gifts will literally make room for you! I’m a witness!
