Meet Estephanie Miranda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Estephanie Miranda.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Estephanie. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
The way my passion started isn’t your usual story. I was fresh out of high school and unlike my peers, I was unsure of what career I wanted to do for the rest of my life. So as a hobby, I’d do makeup for fun on my younger cousins, who would then wear their makeup look to friends’ quinceaneras. At the quinceneras, guests and families would love the look and ask to hire me as their makeup artist. Slowly, my clientele grew as more people witnessed looks and contacted me for them. Within a month, I got booked for my first wedding, and it was an honor to have somebody trust me with their special day. That is when I knew makeup was more than just a hobby, but a passion and a career. Soon I got booked for more weddings, photoshoots and even landed a job as a MAC Makeup artist. These small bookings, along with collaborations, makeup classes, practicing my craft at MAC and most importantly, networking with photographers, is how I got where I am today.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road to where I am today has definitely not been a smooth ride. Being married at a young age made a family come very quickly, and soon my family became my priority. It was hard to balance expenses, time, and energy to both my family and my growing business. Also, there were days I couldn’t book anybody, and there were days I felt I wasn’t even good enough to be in this industry. I couldn’t help but be intimidated by so much competition and growing trends, so finding the type of makeup I wanted to do was also a struggle. During these moments, it seemed easier to just get a full-time job and give up, but at the bottom of my heart, I knew I couldn’t let my passion slip away that easily.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am primarily a makeup artist, but on my journey, I was able to pick up a few hairstyling tricks. However, what I am most proud of is the inclusivity in my business. I embrace diversity and style people of all kinds of races, ethnicities, and complexions. Many people run from diversity, but making my clients feel beautiful is what I try to do best.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5-10 years, I hope to have my own beauty bar open, where customers can relax as they get their hair and makeup done. I’d then like to open many of these beauty bars to keep a growing reputation in various cities.
