Meet Eunice Martinez of 8 Moments Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eunice Martinez.

Eunice, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My life journey is rooted in my solid upbringing, for which I am forever grateful to my wonderful parents. They always provided a very nurturing environment while raising my brother and I to be a very hardworking, driven, and goal-oriented individuals. When I was growing up, you could often find me playing with our family camera, pretending to be the teacher to my stuffed animals, playing tennis, and attending church every weekend to praise The Almighty. I was in middle school when my love for photography started. I then dreamed about being a photographer one day and owning my own photography business. I was 17 when my dad bought me my first professional Canon camera. Because of him, I was determined to start practicing shooting sessions. After graduating from high school, I decided to focus on my career in education. I earned a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies in Bilingual Education.

It was Sophomore year in college, in 2015, when I decided to build 8 Moments Photography. It has been an amazing journey so far. I truly enjoy photographing people’s unique stories and bringing them to life as bold and creative works of art through imagery and visual storytelling. In addition to being beyond grateful for my family, church, and friends, I am also extremely thankful for my professional connections and clients. Because of these amazing people, relationships, and the grace of God, my business is where it is today and continues to grow!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anytime you are starting something new, it comes with its challenges and celebrations. The biggest hurdle for me was I did not have any guidance on how to start a business. Discovering my niche, marketing to my target clientele, and not losing sight of meeting the needs of my clients with what I want or think they need have also been some of the struggles along the way. Lastly, knowing how to balance a schedule that is structured, that doesn’t interfere with my full-time teaching job. I wouldn’t trade any of these challenges because it has been truly rewarding.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
8 Moments Photography was birthed out of faith, fearless ambition, and love for creating storytelling imagery. I am a self-taught lifestyle photographer that specializes in capturing families, self-love, branding, engagements, weddings, maternity, and graduating senior (high school and college). I strive to bring my client’s visions to life. It’s their story. They tell it. I help them share it. My ultimate goal is to bring out the best in my client’s appearance and all the characteristics of their personality that makes them unique during our session. My biggest happiness comes from making others see how truly stunning they are when they just live in the moment in front of my camera.

What are your plans for the future?
With God’s help and guidance, I plan to open my studio one day. This will allow me to better serve my current and future clients. I can also definitely see myself as a mentor to upcoming photographers and educate them on what I wish I knew from starting a business and what I know now. Lastly, make my business a full-time job. Although I love teaching with a passion, I wouldn’t mind taking a leap of faith to be a full-time photographer to my community and different cities and states.
