Today we’d like to introduce you to Farah Vann.
Farah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
InspiredBy Farah did not actually start out as InspiredBy Farah. It is a combination of two different and separate passions. I have always love to motivate, encourage, and uplift people and had great aspirations of one day becoming a motivational speaker.
In the early 2000s, I created a women’s group named Young Women on the Move. Our objective was to have programs and speak to young girls between the ages of 13-18 about self-love, self-respect, and self-motivation, amongst other topics. This lasted only a year because I felt I needed more “life experience”. Fast forward five years, I began planning events such as birthday parties and helping with bar and bat mitzvah. I enjoyed planning events but, knew that was not what I really wanted to do.
These two ventures, eventually birthed InspiredBy Farah. InspiredBy Farah came from my passion and desire to motivate others and my ability to plan, create, & execute events. My purpose is to inspire, encourage, and motivate others to better themselves personally and professionally was at that point realized.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been everything but a smooth road. This has been a winding, hilly, and sometimes, “watch out for falling rocks” type of road. I call the road to InspiredBy Farah, trying to figure it out. After my young women’s group and event planning, I took a 10-year hiatus to allow life to happen. My biggest and strongest struggle was removing the opinions and fears others were injecting into the vision I had for myself. The naysayers and doubters. This caused me to continuously run from what I knew I as supposed to do, which is to help others. It was and is very important for me to remember my purpose, my why. Once I was able to understand, accept, and acknowledge that I do not need to be the subject matter expert or the person to provide the information I was able to begin moving forward and put things together. That is what I do well, find the people and pull the event together.
