Meet George Mayfield of Frameworks Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to George Mayfield. 

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in a family of hard-working entrepreneurs but joined the US Navy as soon as I graduated high school. There, I gained confidence in myself and saw that I had an ability and a drive to make teams work more smoothly. I was a key influencer in starting a program to overhaul the way damage control equipment was maintained by suggesting new processes and leading training programs on the ship. I wanted to use my skills in an environment more open to change and innovation. After leaving the Navy, I sought to fill my mind with business practices and theory so that I could help business owners like those in my family. After earning my MBA, I practiced my art with small and medium businesses for over 10 years until I found my opportunity to start my consulting practice. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the earliest days of my practice, I convinced myself that concentrating on a singular company at a time was the most viable path. Over time, I found that this way of working would help that company a lot more than helping me reach my goals. I grew complacent and my skills dulled the more time went on. In the end, the value I helped build for the company was not translated to a wealth that I could build on. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Frameworks Consulting?
In helping my clients scale and build value, I found that a common denominator was to integrate not only their systems and processes but to bring in other experts. The business owner working long hours doesn’t always know what resources are out there to make their vision a reality, nor the best mix of those resources that would work the best for their given situation. I created Frameworks Consortium as a program to answer that need. Not by being a coach, but by being an Integrative service that guides businesses with a fractional C-Suite and brings in vetted service providers that are matched to that business. Owners are also able to take advantage of interacting with other owners in a peer mastermind to fully understand how their business stands in the market and how they can act to mitigate economic risks. It’s a program created for businesses that can’t afford trial and error. 

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
A professional looking for collaboration has to start by getting as much exposure as possible. It’s a lot of hours and its hard work, but it pays off with the relationships you’re able to forge.
