Today we’d like to introduce you to Hailee Hall.
Hi Hailee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my business, Aesthetic Prints, out of nowhere and without a clear plan. I’ve enjoyed photography for most of my life, and I was really interested in starting my own business. It was tough to figure out what I was going to do initially because I wanted to have a unique company that was true to me. I started the business after my 16th Birthday in 2020 with the intention to bring something wonderfully unusual to the market. In my work as the Dallas NAACP Youth Council’s Secretary, NAACP Vote 4 Me Ambassador, and as a Youth Leader of my church, social justice and activism has been important my whole life. My father, Vincent Hall, life long Dallas activist and social justice advocate, instilled the importance of fighting for change in me when I was just a toddler. I was destined to become a young fighter against the injustices people face in our country.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been smooth. For most of my childhood, I shied away from doing what I wanted to do because I believed that I wasn’t outgoing or confident enough to run my business or share my thoughts on important issues. Sometime during quarantine, I decided to step out of my shell and do something meaningful for myself and those around me. When I started my business, I was terrified that I wouldn’t be able to develop any ideas or have the endurance to keep up with it. I’m happy to say that I have been able to get better at marketing products for the last five months and come up with new ideas. Although simultaneously, I was vocal about the importance of voting, police brutality, and local environmental injustices like Shingle Mountain, all while juggling school. I’ve had a lot on my plate for a while now, but I continue what I do to show kids like me that they can be dynamic as well.
We’ve been impressed with Aesthetic Prints, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Aesthetic Prints is a young and black-owned printing and framing business that specializes in 4 in X 6 in frames and photos. We have different types of frames that are great for home decorating and gifts. We also do bulk prints of the buyer’s choice, all of which are 4 x 6 glossy photo paper. We provide a slew of examples of what you could do with bulk prints on our Instagram page, ranging from memorabilia, photography stills, trendy photos (like aesthetics and album cover prints,) and collages. We also design and print thank you/invitation cards, which are great for birthdays, businesses, weddings, etc. Within the next month, we will be releasing a new item, which will be essential for the bookworms out there!
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
During this current epidemic, I taught myself to be more confident because I realized how much I’d restricted myself from being prosperous, and it’s hard not to notice when you are alone for most days. These moments of self-consciousness led me to start my business and become a part of the Dallas NAACP Youth Council. COVID-19 was genuinely a blessing and a curse for me; Although I have grown tremendously as a person, this country and our world has lost so many extraordinary lives due to the pandemic. From that, I learned the importance of time and how you can lose control of it instantly. I think it’s safe to say that the pandemic has taught us all this lesson, and we should learn from it so we can grow as people.
