Today we’d like to introduce you to Haleigh Beck.
Hi Haleigh, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After spending my entire childhood and teen years on stage, I have always known that I was out on this earth to inspire people through art in some way. After graduating high school and taking one too many wrongs turns in my early twenties, I am finally mere weeks away from finishing my Theatre degree with an emphasis in Acting/Directing from Texas Woman’s University in Denton! After a decade of self-doubt and lack of support from loved ones, it is so fulfilling to know that I am the cycle breaker and have proven everyone who didn’t believe in me wrong. Now we move on to the Master’s Degree!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have had such an uphill battle to be able to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. After struggling with mental health issues and a sour relationship with family members, it has been difficult to move forward and remember my purpose. With the support of my partner, our dogs, his family, and so many friends both old and new, I’m learning how to live in a way that allows me to give my all to my art and keep my mind healthy.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an actress, some of my favorite roles I’ve performed include Veronica Sawyer in Heathers the Musical, Wednesday in The Addams Family Musical, Mae in The Wild Party, and Christine in Be More Chill. In addition to performing, I love writing. My blog (www.woahhaleigh.com) And my socials are my extra creative outlet. I am a big believer in showing what an everyday life looks like and not putting yourself in a box. Social media filters and creates such a highlight reel of the world. I strive to create a fun corner on the internet that is welcoming to everyone.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
My favorite thing about Dallas is the culture is just so rich. It’s amazing to be able to leave my apartment each day and meet folks from every walk of life to be able to learn and grow from. My least favorite thing is how far some of the major theatres are from each other. I love downtown, but I really dislike driving in downtown. Well, I dislike driving anywhere, but especially downtown.
