Meet Heather Betancourt of Blue Hive Customs in Van Alstyne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Betancourt.

Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Founded in 2014, Blue Hive Customs began as a posh baby boutique names Honey Bee Enterprises. Handcrafted baby bibs and burp cloths were the flag ship product. After an influx of personalization requests, embroidery was introduced to meet the demand. Fast forward to today, Blue Hive Customs has a complete product line of kitchen linens, home decor and glassware. We also assist local businesses with business branding on various items including shirts, pillows and signage.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor”

There have been a ton of challenges that were overcome with dedication and time. First is teaching myself embroidery software and understanding what all the buttons did. Luckily, I had a mentor who helped me get my feet wet. Embroidery software is an ongoing learning process that is always evolving and demands time and attention to succeed.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Blue Hive Customs story. Tell us more about the business.
Blue Hive Customs specializes in embroidered kitchen linens, beautiful home decor and cheeky glassware. Locally we are able to assist businesses bring cohesiveness to their branding with embroidering company shirts, outerwear and even store front signage.
