Meet Ian Taylor Schlitz of Kidlamity Gaming in Southlake

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Taylor Schlitz.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Ian. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am 13 years old and I am the owner and CEO of Kidlamity Gaming. I enjoy playing video games and participating in video game tournaments. I noticed that most of the tournaments were for adults and as a child, I was at a disadvantage. Most of us children did not have space to participate equally. So I created such a space. Kidlamity Gaming is an e-gaming tournament for kids. Today we have had over 100 e-gamers compete for top prizes and have established relationships with other local businesses to host our tournaments.

Has it been a smooth road?
Some of the struggles along the way have been saving up the capital to invest in the gaming consoles and television sets. Also, getting the word out to prospective young gamers is something that is an ongoing process.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Kidlamity Gaming is different from any other local company because we focus on e-gaming for children. Many kids love video games, and parents often are concerned about online safety and knowing who exactly their child is interacting with. Kidlamity Gaming brings the kids out of their bedrooms and into the community to interact with each other in real life. It allows the parents to get to know other parents and creates a community that is based on something their child really enjoys.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Dallas Fort Worth is a great city for a business like this. There are many people here that can support just about any business idea. Dallas is particularly good because it is becoming a global center for technology with UT Dallas housing one of the nations only Art, Technology, and Emerging Communication degree plans which includes e-game design.

Pricing:

  • To enter a tournament is $20
