Meet Audrey Hardin of Inside Out Image Consulting in Central Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Hardin.

Audrey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We are told “don’t judge a book by its cover” but the problem is, everybody does. This truth inevitably led me to become an image consultant. I remember feeling horrified as I approached college graduation. I had no idea what I was projecting on the outside or how others perceived me. In the age of social media, the pressure to project an amazing image of yourself both professionally and personally can be daunting! What’s more is that many times the image you slave to create rarely accurately represents who you truly are. Call me gluttonous –but I wanted both –a strong sense of self and a dynamic image to match.

I trained in NYC under some of the world’s top Image Consultants and returned to Texas to start my business, Styled by Audrey. After launching a successful career, the business expanded nationally. I partnered with my sister Abigail, who trained in all aspects of the fashion industry in NYC. We recently rebranded our company to “Inside Out Image Consulting” to reflect the new expertise we offered.

Has it been a smooth road?
A few years into Styled By Audrey, a consistent theme emerged among my clients –the challenge to get them “unstuck” and free from emotional roadblocks holding them back from becoming their best self. Before I could define an image or expect them to “own” it, I realized I needed more training to help sort through the hard stuff. As Socrates said, “Know thyself.”

After completing my Masters in Counseling, I introduced Executive Coaching into my business to empower my clients to confidently live out the image we identified for them.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
What we do is different than a stylist in that an Image Consultant tailors fashion to the individual—not the industry. While considering current trends, we focus on how to make trends work for the individual, not the other way around.

The art of dressing is more than looking good—it is being authentic and clearly communicating that through fashion and expression. Clothing, accessories, hair, grooming, and confidence are tools to better express the individual for the first impressions in life.

With our training and insight, Inside Out Image Consulting is dedicated to making sure your true self is accurately represented and grabs the right attention. Whether you’re a creative individualist, an alluring mystery, a bold leader, approachable confidant, or all of the above, we take who you are and give you an image to match.

At IOIC, we love to work with clients in transition. Some examples of clients we work with are new graduates; employment or promotion-seekers; those new to dating or thriving as a single; busy moms; empty-nesters; and ultimately, there are those who want to make fashion easy and look their best without a second thought.

Whatever the reason, it is a privilege to journey with our clients –learning who they are and empowering them to own it from the inside out.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
When reflecting on the image consulting industry in Dallas and beyond, here are some realities to consider:
The technological age has changed the trajectory of almost every industry in our society. We now have international access to every business and service in a way we never have before. Therefore, we are competing in every arena of life to be “looked at” and considered.

Even dating websites have put pressure on individuals to first be “noticed” so that someone will even stop and read about who they are as a person. Great people can be overlooked in every area of life because they are unaware and untrained in the area of personal presentation.

These realities are here to stay and I believe people are already seeing how important it is to accurately represent themselves from their websites to their clothing if they are to be considered relevant to mainstream society. We must be educated in order to keep pace with the world we live in. Until we add courses in college to train us in these areas, I believe my industry will continue to grow to meet this pressing need.
