Today we’d like to introduce you to Jansen Klefeker.
Jansen, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I began working in residential real estate in the fall of 2017, struggled to find a culture that fit my aspirations in this industry. After being introduced to Rogers, I joined the brokerage and found my footing serving people in my community through real estate. I quickly focused on the development side of the industry and pursued working relationships with builders, investors and developers.
After getting wind of Brett Cochran and his Frisco development, I reached out to get more information, after meeting a few times he decided to bring me on to exclusively list the entire project. We just recently unveiled the community and are very excited to showcase one of Frisco’s top neighborhoods and serve the community while doing it. It’s been a whirlwind and to be a part of a project of this magnitude less than three years in the business is an honor.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at all… And I don’t think anyone would say their first few years in real estate are smooth unless they’re extremely lucky. I had close friends say they wouldn’t hire me, I lost clients, a failed more in my first year than I succeeded.
I at the start of 2019 I gave myself three months to make this work, I had been an agent for over a year, made less than $25,000 so far and was still working a second job. I was newly married and wanted to provide a life for my family.
Please tell us more about your work. What do you guys do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I have the privilege of running J. Klefeker Real Estate Group. We specialize in residential real estate and have carved a path assisting developers and builders market and sell their portfolio of spec and fully custom homes. I’m proud to say we’ve done this while being the underdog, under qualified but have shown no shortage of grit, perseverance, and resolve.
My team’s focus are the relationships we have the privilege of having, creating new ones and cultivating the ones we already have. Our business is based on doing life with the people around us and unfortunately, that sets us apart from so many individuals in our industry today.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
My main marker for success is what’s said about me by those closest to me. It’s not numbers or accolades or jobs accomplished but what legacy I’m leaving. Anyone that knows me knows I’m fueled by setting goals and knocking them down, but my largest success will be how I live out the standard I set for myself outside of the office. In my marriage, friendships, and family.
