Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared A. Moody.
Jared, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My whole life, I’ve been involved in creative activities, but if I told you I planned on being a photographer, I’d be lying. My photography adventure started in 2014 while I was attending the University of North Texas. I initially bought a camera to just vlog with, then one day, I decided I wanted to host a photo-shoot with some friends. I instantly found happiness in being the man behind the lens. Of course, since this was my first time actually taking pictures, they didn’t come out the best. But I saw the potential. Not only that, but I noticed my love for capturing moments and making memories. After that, I continued to do free shoots throughout the year and my progression was rapid. I’ve been doing photography for six years now and have developed a unique style that separates me from others. My work ethic is unmatched. I have been blessed with the opportunity to shoot for university events, luxury brand sponsors, weddings, conceptual projects and more.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been far from smooth. It takes a lot of mental strength to be a photographer. You have to realize that not everyone is going to like your style, but you can’t let that discourage you. Not only that, but photography isn’t the cheapest profession to get into. It takes dedication and hard work to get to where you want to be. But if this is something you truly love to do, you’ll make it work.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
My specialty is portrait photography. I’m very good at finding unique angles and lighting to make great pictures. I would also say my editing skills are top-notch and separate me from a lot of my competition. I’m very proud of my ability to pay attention to details and not take short cuts.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
One thing about me is I always try to turn my negatives into positives. So if I ever run into “bad luck,” I use it to fuel me and help keep me focused. I would say that’s the reason I’ve had as much success as I have.
