Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Givens.
Jason, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started taking a passion for being in front of a camera when I first got an iPhone years back. It brought confidence in myself and woke up a fire inside of me that made me want to travel down the modeling/fashion route. Coming from the small town of Bonham, Texas where it’s hard to get out or make it in anything in life, I’ve been bound and determined to stay the course and not get sucked with no way out! At 5’6-7, I’ve always beaten the odds, the only difference between me and most is I never stop I keep pushing and grinding until the breakthrough and when I break through I go harder!
Has it been a smooth road?
Not at all… I fight through these hardships every day and STILL do… I’ve dealt with an ex-girlfriend stealing everything I owned except my car, overcoming a severe wreck that I was lucky to walk away from with just some soreness, losing my friend who I helped get into college to play football in a drowning incident in Melissa, TX last summer. Being fired from a job for having someone scratch said car even with it being on camera they felt as if I didn’t have a right to be upset or defend myself about it. I’ve dealt with chronic anxiety and depression to the point I couldn’t do ANYTHING for a year not even drive but found solace in lifting weights extremely hard and working out and reading every day which has been a huge blessing.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Model story. Tell us more about the business.
I’ve been going down the modeling/fashion route the last year and a half… I just got done a month ago walking in a fashion show (Wet Gala 2019) at UNT with the great Kendall King and Teamtattedclothing! Kendall has always inspired me even before I knew him and just knew of him in high school! I also recently Just walked in BlazersAndBodysuits pt 2 featuring Teamtattedclothing! I love the brand and want to help push it with Kendall. I like to consider myself one of the voices for the brand and the goofy yet charismatic model.I learn from each experience and apply it as a lifestyle to challenge myself as up and coming model and, also to expand the creative side that’s always been in me in more ways than just one.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In five years, I could see myself expanding in bigger roles I wouldn’t mind acting as well the show Empire and Power influence me in those areas! I can also see myself in those 5-10 years pushing Teamtattedclothing to global not just in the metroplex but a worldwide name and will put all the effort in helping do so to provide the world with a top of the line fashion and style that is yet to be seen.
