Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Manriquez.
Hi Jennifer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Finding out I was pregnant was one of the best feelings of my life. It was a feeling I will never forget. I knew as a single mom, I had to keep striving and being as optimistic as possible. My biggest motivation is my son’s well-being and always has been. I know many moms, specifically single moms, can attest to the hard work that takes place in being a mom and just how tiring but rewarding it can be. My brand Minks And Winks was born as a result of my self-motivating and optimistic energy. I knew I wanted to make an impact in my sons’ life as well as follow my dreams. I’ve always had a passion for doing makeup and expressing myself in this creative way. One big downfall for me was all the poor-quality lashes in the business. I knew I wanted to make a statement in the industry and provide nothing but high-quality, luxurious lashes, which was the beginning and founding motto of Minks And Winks.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being an entrepreneurial woman and a single mom was one of the obstacles that pushed me through becoming a successful entrepreneur. Growing up with immigrant parents motivated me to strive for not only success but fulfillment and happiness. They taught me hard work and dedication pays off! It hasn’t been easy, but it’s definitely been worth the challenge.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
One thing I love hearing from my customers is “she’s the lash plug” I give off trap aesthetic style with top of the line lashes. One of my biggest accomplishments was being able to attend a local Dallas pop-up and selling over 100 pairs of lashes within a few hours. That really showed me the love and support that I have around the DFW. My business has come with struggles and many blessings, which is why I have made it one of my purpose to inspire moms out there that you can do anything you set your mind to.
What were you like growing up?
I think like any other entrepreneur, I started early. My first entrepreneurial business was selling candy. I had my own personal wagon, where I would pull around the neighborhood to earn money and buy things as a child I desperately wanted. I’ve always seen myself running a business and becoming a successful businesswoman! Opening a storefront in the middle of our beautiful city is my next goal.
