Meet Jennifer Sanchez of Angel Quartz Beauty in Lewisville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Sanchez.

Jennifer, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
After being in college for three years and changing my major three times I realized that I wasn’t finding my passion in anything I was doing. I hated going to class, and doing homework was a nightmare. I remember having ten hour homework days where all I did was sit on the computer and do homework. Can you imagine being a science major and sitting at your computer for 10+ hours just doing science homework? It got to a point where I decided that I wanted to drop out. I felt like I wasn’t as passionate about being a nurse as most of the people in my class.

So I came home and told my best friend who at the time was going back to school to finish her hours in cosmology. I began telling her how I wanted to drop out but didn’t know what I would do. She told me “You love makeup how about an esthetician?” After that day I applied to the esthetics program at Salon Boutique Academy. I loved the school, the teachers and everything about it. There is not a day I regret leaving school to be an esthetician. I love being able to change my client’s lives and see them happy when they leave my door. After getting my license I started working in my field and now five months later I am in my own suite!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road AT ALL. Not only did it take me a while to find something I love and my true passion but getting started was kind of a challenge as well. When I was in school my goal was to finish school get my license and work beside a plastic surgeon. That did not go as planned at all. Finding jobs straight out of school was very difficult. Everyone wants you to have experience but won’t give you a chance to gain experience. I started out working in an old friend’s spa while I was waiting tables although it didn’t pay much. It got to the point where I couldn’t find a job that would pay me enough to even eat.

Honestly, I did not expect it to be this challenging to find a good-paying job with a license but it was harder then I would have imagined. Every job I could find paid terrible. So I decided to start taking in clients on the side for a little extra cash. I started out just doing lash extensions and after a while, I decided to invest in a laser lipolysis machine which is when my clientele started taking off. Since I had more people coming in I decided to quit my jobs and move into my own little suite. Having my own place helped me accept more people and be more available! Obviously moving in to my new place has brought me a lot more obstacles but I am happy that I have grown so much in so little time. Getting new clients is probably one of my biggest obstacles just because you really have to market yourself and it’s hard finding new people that are interested in your work and are willing to pay your price.

Angel Quartz Beauty – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
My business is called Angel Quartz Beauty. I am a licensed esthetician in the state of Texas, and I am certified in over 20 things! My most popular service is laser lipolysis which helps burn fat in the adipose tissue. I also do eyelash extensions, eyelash lift, vajacials, booty facials, underarm facials, microdermabrasion, Hydro facial, eyebrow tinting, waxing, high frequency, chemical peels, Butt lifts, skin tightening and more! I feel like to be an esthetician it’s easy… anyone can be an esthetician all you have to do really is to go through schooling.

But to be a good esthetician you need to care and have passion for what you do. I take the time to explain every service to every client. I understand and appreciate their investment with me. I love my job because I get to help clients feel better about themselves. Some times people just don’t know how to take care of their selves and that’s where me and my knowledge come in. What sets me apart from all the others is that I care about every client and every service I perform.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I feel like I can’t choose a specific moment. I’m proud of every moment. My favorite part about my job being able to impact my client’s life. My goal is to go to work every day and hope that my client leaves feeling more beautiful than when they walked in. It’s amazing to be able to watch your client’s skin change and go through that journey with them. I remember my client said to me “Before I met you, I thought I was just going to have to live with all of this acne. I’ve tried everything and nothing has worked till now.”

All the times I’ve had a heart to heart with my clients have been my proudest moments. It’s too hard to pick just one but I’m happy I get to celebrate so many of those proud moments.
