Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Watkins.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jennifer. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always been interested in the beauty industry as far back as I can remember. When I was in high school I started to become interested in nails. I would buy the nail kits from the local beauty supply store and do my nails as well friends and families nails. A little after graduating high school I enrolled into manicuring school. I did that for a while then later enrolled into cosmetology school, I really enjoyed doing hair and never thought I would end up doing eye lash extensions. I kind of fell into doing lashes and loved it from day one. I started working at local lash place and later ventured out on my own and started doing them for myself working from home. Early 2019 I moved into my suite in Hurst where I provide eye lash extensions, brow tenting and soon I will be adding more services to my business.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No it has not been a smooth road. During my time in school my mom became very ill which was one of the hardest times in my life. I was my mom’s caregiver along with my sisters, Also I am a full time mother of twin girls. All that while trying to build my clientele and business. It has been a struggle but through it all I have been very blessed.
Please tell us about Desired Destinies Beauty Bar.
My business is named after my daughters Desirae and Destiny. Desired Destinies Beauty Bar is where you can come and enjoy a relaxing eyelash extension service in a nice quiet suite. I also travel providing select hair services. I specialize in eyelash extensions and short hair styles. I am known for my eyelash extension services. What I believe sets me apart from others are my business hours. I lash late nights as well as early mornings so that I am able to service the busy working woman who can only pamper herself after work.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over the only thing I would change would be taking some type of business classes on starting a business instead of figuring it out as I go. Other than that I feel every step of the way and everything I have been through is what makes me and my business what I am today and what is set out for my future.
