Over the years, Mama-in-Charge of MomCave, Jennifer Weedon Palazzo, has built an award-winning comedy channel and community for moms. By sharing authentic and hilarious material, she’s built a community of over 106,000 moms who take the challenges of parenthood with a dash of humor. Being chosen for YouTube’s Women in Comedy Initiative, nominated for awards like Best Comedy Duo, Best Live Series, and Best Hosted Series has almost made up for all the times her kids threw up on her. Meet Jen and Dina, the mamas behind MomCave! They, along with some very funny and creative friends, produce comedic videos for moms and host a thriving online community, including weekly live interactive videos on Facebook.
With the proliferation of mommy blogs and Pinterest fever, moms can often feel that they’re coming up short. Being a mom is hard. We use comedy to deal with the struggles and celebrate the victories.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business while starting a family is never easy. My husband, Evan Palazzo, bandleader of The Hot Sardines toured almost 80% of the time. So, I was home with our kids, doing all the typical “mom” things and trying to make a living. It’s been a challenge in patience and a lesson in progress over perfection.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I spent years as an actress and model in New York City. But since founding MomCave, I’ve become more of a writer/editor/producer and unintentional influencer! MomCave has been called “The anti-Pinterest of parenting.” We keep it real.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Dallas is one of my favorite places I’ve visited and some close family recently moved there so I can’t wait to spend more time there. I love how everyone is so friendly and down-to-earth, yet you can find the finest in restaurants and culture, too!
