Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Sheppard.
Hi Jeremiah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a Professional Dog Trainer at DFW Dawg Life located in Dallas, Texas. I started training dogs in 2019 because I bought a dog and needed to get her trained. The breed of dog that I bought is a Presa Canario. These dogs are used for Home & Personal Protection but are loving family companions. My journey began when I noticed I had to take my dog through training in order for me to get her to where I wanted her to be. I did my research of trainers who trained for personal protection and met my Mentor and Teacher Master dog trainer P Don Mega who was at the time located in Austin, TX. He offered me a full ride Scholarship of four years in order to become a professional dog trainer. I accepted his offers and have been training dogs ever since. I have been a student under his belt for two years now. We both work at DFW dawg life in Dallas, TX.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No, the road has not been as easy as I thought it would be. My teacher isn’t the nicest person in the world, so he tends to get on me a lot because he is teachings me to do business and to become a professional at the same time. A lot of his teachings he repeats to me over and over again but the times I learn from those lessons is when I see them in my face through first-hand experience. My teacher has not guided me wrong with anything he tells me. Other than that, training dogs is the best part about my profession because I am doing something that I love.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
Here at DFW Dawg life we specialize in lifestyle obedience training and Personal Protection Dog Training. I am best known for the quality work of dog training that I provide for clients who trust me to train their disobedient dog to a disciplined obedient dog. I am most proud that I have not had any complaints from any clients who trusted me to train their Dog/Family companion. What sets me apart is that my focus is not on the money. My focus is on the growth and development of each dog that joins our training program.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I always loved dogs! My dad always kept a dog for our family, so the love of dogs has always been there. My parents kept us active in sports, so we were always busy with some activities, but I would have never thought I would become a professional dog trainer.
