Meet Jhanilka and Anthony Hartzog of Maids 2 Match

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jhanilka and Anthony Hartzog.

Jhanilka and Anthony, please share your story with us.
We’re newlyweds who got married in May 2016. In June 2016 we moved from Brooklyn, NY to Dallas, TX.  We were using residential cleaning services and realized it was a hassle to not only set up appointments, but also settle payments etc. For about 6 months, Anthony presented the idea of a cleaning business but Jhanilka kept turning it down as she felt it would be too much work in conjunction with both of us having full-time jobs. Finally, Anthony presented more details and discussed how it could work and… Maids 2 Match was born. We figured we could utilize Anthony’s background in Information Technology to bring a new service to the outdated Mom and Pop style of cleaning companies. In hindsight, we spent a lot of time on things that probably didn’t end up mattering in the long run but we tried to make everything perfect before going “live”.

We have grown slowly, getting our name out there locally and with friends and family. Then, growing to the local neighborhood apartment complexes by visiting them and finding out what they disliked about their current service providers. We saw opportunities in the “old school” market. In our attempt to utilize online marketing, we tried AdWords, which worked for us for a bit. We gained some traction from word of mouth and once we grew our online presence, began using Search Engine Optimization.

Today, we have grown to complete and service almost 200 bookings in our first 6 months. We still have some ways to go to compete with the bigger names, but what allows us to stay focused is the level of customer service we provide to our clients. Our clients and potential customers can contact us almost 24/7 directly which is what makes us stand out. When they are sleeping we are being as responsive as possible.

Has it been a smooth road?
It most definitely has not been a smooth road. Some of the biggest struggles came along with the lines of growth. How to find the best cleaners, keeping them motivated to work and ensuring they service our customers 200%. Another thing was finding out which online marketing worked best for us. We spent a few hundred on AdWords later to realize it wasn’t the best business expense for our needs. We also faced challenges trying to figure out which online service market worked best for the types of customers we wanted: Yelp vs Thumbtack presented two distinctly different customers.

Getting clients for Maids 2 Match isn’t as easy as it seems. Even with all the online presence, the ability to book a cleaning company online is still unheard of by some customers. It is a very unique convenience that we offer and we understand that it may seem odd to not have a company come out and quote your home. We have had several customers view the online booking page and still request us come out for an in-person quote.

Additionally, there is the challenge of dealing with difficult clients. We aren’t afraid to admit some clients needs were beyond our scope of service. We have realized that not every customer needs to be a Maids 2 Match customer.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Maids 2 Match – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Maids 2 Match is a Residential Cleaning Company. We clean homes. Along with providing a great customer service experience, it’s what we do. We are very responsive and clients are able to reach out to the owners of the company with any issues or concerns they may have immediately. There have been a few times that we had to go to the home of the client to please them. What other companies owner would go to the home personally? We feel this sets us apart from other companies.

We are most proud of how we have been able to steadily grow and still have the values we started with. We make it a point to still reach out to each client once the cleaning is complete to be sure they were satisfied with the service. We want to always maintain that customer service as we feel that will take us further than the competition. 

Another thing that sets us apart is all of our Cleaning teams are background checked, insured and bonded.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We love the food in Dallas, we love the BBQ!!! There are so many options and everything is inexpensive and the portions are huge. The scenery is great and the amount of grass is amazing.

The heat and temperature can be unbearable at times. Sometimes that can keep us away from doing our outdoor activities, like running and bike riding. Coming from New York, sometimes the lack of transportation and locations closing early. In NY, it was the city that never slept literally.
