Today we’d like to introduce you to Jocelyn Reveles.
Jocelyn, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I always loved making chocolate-covered strawberries and other desserts for family parties. Never did I think I would one day turn it into a business. But, one day, I decided I wanted to make chocolate-covered strawberries for Valentine’s day. I made a sample box, took some pictures, created a menu and posted it onto my social media. Surprisingly I had many people who reached out to order. I remember staying up all night to make sure all orders were ready. That day was very successful. I was so happy. As more holidays came, I had people asking me if I was going to make strawberries. So then I decided to make an Instagram dedicated to my sweets. By the time Mother’s day came around, I had so many orders. I was very thankful because as a college student this was a way for me to make money and by doing something I love. Especially during this time of the pandemic, people still have birthdays, anniversaries. It is always nice when someone does something small to make the other person smile. I love to see all my customer’s reactions when they receive their orders.
Has it been a smooth road?
Consistency is definitely key, I did struggle sometimes but in order for me to get my business out there, I had to make sure I was constantly continuing to post. Another big thing for me also is “Practice makes perfect” I struggled a bit with some designs for my strawberries, but as I keep doing it I am learning more ways to make it easier for me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Sweet Treats by Joy story. Tell us more about the business.
Sweet Treats by Joy is a dessert shop to satisfy your sweet tooth by making custom treats for any occasion. I make chocolate-covered strawberries, cherries, pretzels, churro cheesecake bars, stuffed cheesecake cones, cakesicles, cake pops, and breakable heart molds made of chocolate. What I am most known for at the moment is my chocolate covered strawberries. I make boxes, cups and even trays for any type of event. What I am most proud of as a business is how fast and far along I have come. In just a matter of months, I have been growing and couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who has supported my business. What would set me apart from others is that I am willing to go above and beyond for my customers, I want to make sure it is exactly what they pictured.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I hope to see myself and my business grow where I can open different shops through DFW. I would love to do big parties and events.
