Meet Joe Temple of RG Apparel Co. in Irving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Temple.

Joe, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started RG Apparel (then the name Real Greek Apparel) in 2006 to provide divine nine greeks a place to shop (online) for a new look and feel of greek paraphernalia. Our mission was to provide a more upscale, professional and practical products offered to greeks beyond tees, caps and sweatshirts that looked a lot of the same.

Through much evolution, online savvy and streamlining, RGA established what worked and has built a successful online business over the past ten years.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely ups and downs. Learning what works over the different groups while managing inventory properly. Enduring through the time required to engage greeks to notice and accept the changes of what we were doing new across all product lines. Changing suppliers to find right ones to meet your demands while keeping the quality level high. Several challenges when you are a manufacturer but we have also weathered those challenges to integrate technology to assist with sorting through the data, now having key core suppliers in place and proper IT to handle the changing needs and demands of what’s taking place online.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about RG Apparel Co.  – what should we know?
When we started RG Apparel our long term vision was to become a manufacturing power that could produce products in mass, large quantities, supply smaller on-demand programs and branch into several areas of expertise in licensing to include greek, professional and collegiate sports, corporate licensing and private label which we achieved

As President and head of product development, I was the initial designer of all the products across all the brands. As we began to grow and customer base became much larger, the need for the design team to increase also occurred. We have since added several designers to our design team who take a larger portion of the design role which allows me to focus on directing the creative aspect from them.

We pride ourselves on being a customer leader and being known for our great service and responsiveness. So important in a company today is to remember the customer is first. Without them, there is no us. So when you put them first, service them, deliver timely, fairly and quickly resolve issues and complaints, they will remember you, keep coming back and most importantly spread positive words about you!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to chase my dreams with the grace of God through the ups and downs and finally make my passion of business ownership a reality.
