Meet Joel Marius and Christopher McFadden of Financial Colors Wealth Management

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joel Marius and Christopher McFadden.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
About Joel Marius: I started working in the financial and insurance industry in the year 2001. I got securities, investments and life insurance licensed in 2010. I am passionate about helping people pursue their financial dreams and goals. Helping people turn their passion into income and showing them how to build, maintain and protect their wealth. While I worked at some of the largest financial institutions, I moved up through the corporate ladder as a top producer. However, I found limitations on who I was allowed to work with. This is not what I wanted to do. I want to partner with and help people no matter what their age is, how much money they have or what their financial and insurance situation is. Unfortunately, in our industry, this is a serious problem and I am going to make a difference by working with everyone. This got me thinking on how I can implement a program that can help individuals get out of debt and start building wealth or if they have built wealth, how can these individuals maintain their wealth, protect what they have and implement strategies to reduce their taxes. Doing right by the client and providing the best financial advice possible is very important to me and I always make sure to help our clients whether they do business with me or not. As a person who also owns several successful businesses, I love teaching people how to turn their passion into income by starting a business doing what they love to do. During my career in the financial and insurance industry, about eight years ago, I met my business partner Christopher McFadden who shares my vision on how to help clients. We started our partnership to be able to deliver those values to the people we work with.

About Christopher McFadden: I began my career in 1998 working in the life insurance industry. After a couple of years, I wanted to expand the services that I provided clients and in 2000 became a licensed financial advisor. As such, I always strived to the example set by my parents and grandparents to do right by people. My goal has always been to give the best advice I possibly could to my clients, even if it meant directing them to another carrier or a product that I could not provide. As a Certified Financial Planner professional and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, I want to get to know the full picture of a client’s financial life along with their future plans and goals so that I can guide them along the most productive path. The focus of my career has been to meet clients where they are financially and help to get them on a path to where they want to be. After meeting my business partner, Joel Marius, I knew that I had found a person of like mind.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Joel Marius and Christopher McFadden: It was not a smooth road at all for us. To be an independent financial advisor professional today, you have to be very competitive, have strong skills and knowledge in the industry along with a positive attitude. Also, starting your own financial practice is like starting your own business. You have to have a well organized and solid process, provide the best financial and insurance products and services to provide value to our clients.

One of our biggest hurdles was to find a place and find a business partner that can support each other’s vision. Being a financial advisor for many years and seeing that every company has its own rules and restrictions was eye-opening. It is difficult to find a business partner that you can work with and trust plus a company that will support your growth in the direction that we choose. It took us lots of research and many discussions to find a place that can support our vision.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Financial Colors Wealth Management story. Tell us more about the business.
Joel Marius and Christopher McFadden founded Financial Colors Wealth Management in January 1, 2018 with a goal to help all our clients build, maintain and protect wealth. At Financial Colors Wealth Management we work with all individuals in the areas of financial advise/planning, investments, insurance and retirement. Not focusing only on a specific group of people that are in a certain age or have a certain net worth. Whether you are in debt and need a financial plan to organize your finances and start building wealth, or, you are a high net worth individual and want to maintain and protect your wealth, Financial Colors Wealth Management is here to help.

We chose three colors starting with red, yellow and green to represent our process. Clients in the red, either, don’t have a plan or know that they have financial difficulties such as debt, have no financial education and other financial challenges. The color yellow indicates that a client may have made some good financial choices such as saving money and paying down debt. But, still need a cohesive financial plan to build wealth. The color green indicates a client that has a well thought out financial plan that they are executing. This could be what you expect such as an older person who already has built wealth and just needs to maintain and protect it or a young person who has made good financial decision and has a firm financial plan in place that they are executing to build their future.

Where ever our clients are, in the red, yellow or green, we will meet them there and help them make progress towards their financial goals.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Joel Marius: I have been grateful and lucky to have met people who believe in me, trust me, support me and inspired me to start my own financial practice.
