Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Flores.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I moved to Dallas hoping it would lead to better opportunities and would motivate me to be the best version of myself. I knew I wanted to inspire individuals and make them see themselves how I viewed them; which lead me to the Esthetics Industry. I’ve partaken in all aspects of the industry regarding vocational schooling (Aveda Institute), varies technique/skill certifications, corporate, private, & hotel spas. After my 9+ years and extensive experience I realized that it’s time that I became my own boss. Why not? The Lgbtq community helped hone my marketing skills from volunteering with the resource center, varies charities, working with club owners to throw elaborate parties and the night scene aspects that everyone knows I love. I’m deciding to jump right in and hopefully it treats me quite lovely like the Dallas community has.
Del Carmen Skin is named after my mother who without a doubt has motivated me to be my best self. She also has taught me there is no other beauty like effortless beauty. Being humble and simplistic is the ultimate sophistication and that embodies everything that this brand will be. I’ve had many strong women in my life who have imprinted a heart print on my soul and this new venture will have them in mind.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I believe we all share the same struggles of finding where you belong in this world, your either a follower or a leader. In the business world you have no other option other than to become a leader, business is business. You start to realize that you are your own worst critic, it is only you that can either change your future for the best or the worst. When you do learn this vital tool, then you start to love yourself more. Bare with me, I’m still on this never ending journey of self-love.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Del Carmen Skin – what should we know?
Del Carmen’s Skin Esthetics will mainly focus on self-healing and rejuvenating not only one’s skin but their feeling of self-love and beauty. I will be bringing affordable luxury and exceptional quality. I am most proud to say that customer experience is what I’m most proud of, the service we provide is vital to the success of the business. Catering to the community in an affordable way that other spas have priced their services in an unreasonable way.
Our services will include dermaplaning, chemical peels, high frequency, Led light therapy, waxing and massage services with my partner April Crosby who is an excellent therapist. Our Beauty Facial is a relaxing 50 minute facial with a thorough skin analysis deep cleansing, exfoliation, microdermabrasion treatment, steam, extractions and mask. Don’t forget about the therapeutic massage of the neck, head arms and shoulders that is incorporated throughout your facial. All for a beautiful $50, doesn’t that sound lovely?
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I’m thankful to have a strong support system who believe in me and want me to succeed. Stallions, B.strange, Bubbi, learning from my past lovers, the Dallas community, my family, my heart prints. You have given me light when my flame was diminishing.
