Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Boone.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started NationTen Brand at Texas Wesleyan University (Ft. Worth, TX). I was selling regular t-shirts, socks out the trunk of my car. Once I graduated, I sold cars for a few months gaining sales experience after a few months I quit and decided to work full-time as an entrepreneur. I began making calls to teams locally, across the state and nation. We started producing custom uniforms (basketball, football, soccer, etc.) and instantly grew to hundreds of clients in a few months. In less than a year, we now have deals with arena football leagues, high schools over hundreds of youth organizations. In my second year running the business full-time, sales are nearing 1 million dollars and expected to surpass it.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road when I first started running the business I was a full-time college student with a part-time job. So, my tread in the game and risk was very low, once I got into business full-time I was faced with the challenge of generating a livable income and growing the business. My major challenge was bouncing back from several unforeseen circumstances that nearly wiped out my accounts financially all in a nine-day period. I was broke, with a schedule full of orders that needed to be completed. I became depressed and tried drinking my problems away. I ended up finding myself spiritually which drove me to a greater hustle and perform the biggest year yet. Consistency and innovating have been challenges which are expected especially when you want to outpace the competition.
NationTen Brand – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
NationTen Brand specializes in custom apparel for football, basketball etc. Our pricing (retail, package deals) and consistent new product releases put us ahead of the competition on our direct level and put us into another bracket. The freedom to create custom uniforms from scratch separate us, most companies have preset templates that will only allow you to change colors and/or patterns that are given.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment has been being able to provide for my friends and family and setting up a future for them. The life I am living and building is not for me, it is for them!
