Meet Julie Hong of Fort Worthy Food in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Hong.

Julie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Ever since I had a camera phone, I would always take pictures of my food. For years I posted my food pictures on my personal Instagram page. Then it got to the point when I realized that more than half of my photos were pictures of food. I debated for a while whether or not I should make a separate Instagram account for just my food pictures. I decided to do it after I thought of a punny username for a food account – fortworthyfood – to display worthy food finds in Fort Worth. I think I was also pretty lucky in choosing my username because it pops up whenever people search for “Fort Worth,” which helps my account get more exposure. Since I’ve started my food blog on Instagram, it has continued to grow, and it has been so much fun! I’ve met several other foodies and influencers in the DFW area, and I’ve interacted with other foodies from all over the world. I truly thank God for all the blessings He’s given me through this experience, and I can’t wait to see what more is in store!

Has it been a smooth road?
Overall, I would say it’s been a smooth road because my food Instagram page is a hobby for me. I started it without any expectations of how “popular” it would get. I just wanted to share photos of my food for other people to see and try! The only challenge was realizing that there’s so much more to navigating Instagram than I thought there was. For example, I realized that some people follow you so that you would follow them, and then they’d unfollow you a few days later. Regardless, I’ve learned to overlook those small things and enjoy what I’m doing.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I enjoy taking pictures of good food in the DFW area, mainly in Fort Worth. I like sharing food deals, freebies, and grand openings in the DFW area, and I also enjoy celebrating national food days! I’m proud that I can use my platform to promote businesses in the DFW area and share food recommendations. I love how food can bring people together, and being a foodie helps me connect with others easily. I strive to continue to improve my photography and editing skills to capture food beautifully because we eat with our eyes first.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think DFW is a great area for food bloggers to get started! There are so many delicious places in the multiple cities within the metroplex, and new places are constantly opening here. There are also many other foodies in the DFW area, so it’s great to support one another and share awesome food finds with each other on Instagram!
