Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Williams.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My upbringing and the collegiate experience sparked my passion for helping the youth! Witnessing my family work together and sacrifice to help each other planted the seed of SERVICE in my heart, but being a first-generation college student helped me discover my PURPOSE! Throughout my collegiate experience, I endured many failures due to not being informed or properly prepared. I vowed that once I finished I would do everything in my power to bridge the gap between the institutions and the community! Upon completion, I wrote my first book entitled, Memoirs of Virtue: The Evolution of a Scholar, which shares helpful tips, advice, and strategies to help students make a smooth transition through college and life. Post-graduation, I struggled to gain full-time employment, which caused me to work a number of odd jobs! The crazy thing is each job had a common thread, they all dealt with working with the youth. I felt like this was confirmation that God wanted me to do more with my life and influence, so I began to do some deep soul searching. I was determined to only dedicate my life to doing things that I was passionate about.
I’m a TRUE TEXAN so I value my FAITH, FAMILY, FOOD, and of course, FOOTBALL! It’s safe to say that the Dallas Cowboys played a huge role in my development! Everyone in my family played sports especially softball, so naturally, I picked up a bat and glove at the age of two. I’ve participated in softball, basketball and field events in track throughout my whole life! Unfortunately, I never got to fulfill my dreams of playing collegiate ball due to a knee injury. Although my athletic competition days are over, I simply can’t stay away from sports. The lights, the sound of the sneakers squeaking on the floor and whistles blowing bring me so much peace. I’ve continuously submerged myself in sports by coaching many youth league basketball teams and mentoring student-athletes. September of 2016 GOD told me that my love for sports, teaching students life skills and preparing students for college would be the ingredients for creating my business. I wrote my letter of resignation and informed my boss that I would be leaving in December. Afterwards, I signed up for the ALC student-athlete life coach training course and set out to become a student-athlete life coach.
January 2017, I started Level 27 Coaching & Advising. Level 27 was built on the foundation of Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the Salt of the Earth and the Light of the World.” This scripture reminds me of how important REPRESENTATION is to our youth! I believe that someone is waiting on the bi-product of our obedience! Simply seeing someone from a similar background create their own path lets them know anything is possible. It inspires them to want to strive for excellence! I chose to become a life coach because I genuinely love to see others WIN, especially our youth. I live by the quote, “Be the person you needed when you were younger.” My ultimate mission in life is to help others realize their potential and capitalize on their opportunities. Through my programs, I hope to help students gain the skills to manage their mindset and not their circumstance.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
This journey hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it. One thing that I’ve struggled with the most is coming to the realization that every student isn’t going to change their reality or see their true potential! I approach each situation with the utmost sincerity and optimism but I had to realize that if the student doesn’t want to change or isn’t ready to take on this process the program won’t be impactful. The hardest thing I’ve had to deal with is watching students that have all the potential in the world choose the wrong path. I want to see everyone win but there’s nothing I can physically do to assist someone in reaching their goals if they haven’t made the decision to take control of their life! Another thing I struggled with early on was finding my sweet spot when it comes to marketing strategies. I’ve had to really invest time in learning about all of the platforms! Going through that process has really helped me develop a solid baseline for delivering my content.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I don’t have any regrets but if I had to start over, I would only do one thing differently. I would’ve started this business right out of college! This would’ve given me more time to discover more techniques and gain more perspective.
