Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Hunned.
Ken, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started doing music when I was 18. I made a song to a popular dance name “south Dallas swag” with DJ BayBay the ambassador. I was incarcerated not too long after. Did five years in prison, came home and started doing freestyle videos which caught attention on FB. That’s how I started getting my following and later started making music. I got where I’m at now with hard work.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been smooth for me as far as getting the consumer to like my music but it’s not always smooth getting started.
Some of the struggles I had that I think a person would have are:
Having proper funds to promote your music.
Meeting the right people who can help you progress.
Getting your music played.
Not giving up when you feel like nothings going your way.
We’d love to hear more about your music.
I am a rap artist. My label HunnedFam productions is funded by me. Me and my team don’t need backing from anybody, we pay our own way. I think that’s what set my label from others. We don’t have no one controlling our moves
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, it’s a very good city to do what I do, but you gotta have ya budget right to get in the mix. If someone was starting, I wouldn’t tell them to start off in Dallas because networking doesn’t work well If it doesn’t involve money, a person in Dallas most likely won’t pay attention to you until they hear about you from somewhere else. I think our city could have plenty of stars, if we root for our own people like we root for the ones outside the city. Make people see that we got talent.
