Meet Ken Womack

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ken Womack.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I’m a multi-media artist, designer and filmmaker. I work primarily in encaustic (wax), but also in acrylics. My latest project is an 18 x 9-foot mural, which I am starting this week.

Please tell us about your art. I am an encaustic artist primarily. Encaustic art is painting in hot wax, and it allows me to carve into, and to scrape back into different layers as well as imbed tile and other elements into my work. I am drawn to texture, and the encaustic medium is a great fit for my artistic intent.

My work is always trying to drive some kind of concept. Sometimes it is social commentary, or some kind of observation about the way people interact, or relationships. It’s rare that I just try to do something for the sake of pure aesthetics.

Choosing a creative or artistic path comes with many financial challenges. Any advice for those struggling to focus on their artwork due to financial concerns?
Follow your passion and things will work out.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work? People can see my work at kenwomack.com, my Instagram feed (kenwomack) and at pop up shows when applicable.
