Meet Kendall Gary

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendall Gary.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
The first 8 years of my life I lived overseas in Jamaica, Denmark and South Korea. We moved back to the US and have lived in Texas ever since. I was four years old when I started taking classical voice lessons. My mom would always sing songs with my siblings and I, but she felt that I had potential and acted on it. Around the age of fourteen I started pursuing a career with my music, and learned what I needed in order to get my career going.

At fifteen, my first single was produced and released. Then at seventeen, I flew to Nashville and wrote and recorded my second single that was later released in April of 2015. In March of 2015, I met a producer from the Cayman Islands, Jason Gilbert. We both knew I wasn’t as ready as I wanted to be. He told me he would meet with me in August and see where I was. When I came back that August I was in a different mindset. I was all in. I came with current songs that I had written and made sure that he knew I was serious and wanted this, because I did. In October 2015, “Team Kendall” met for the first time in Los Angeles and that is when my album first got started. We met again in November of that year then March, June and August of 2016.

I am currently majoring in Music Business at Belmont University. Since attending Belmont, I have released five singles from my upcoming project. I’m VERY excited about my album that will be coming out in September. This project has been a long time coming and my team and I are looking forward to its release.

Please tell us about your art.
I am a singer and songwriter. Music has been a passion of mine since I was little. My family have always been my greatest supporters and helped me get to where I am now. My parents are especially encouraging, always helping me be the best version of myself and to never give up when things get tough.

The music I write is inspired by the things I experience in my life. When writing my music, I hope that my songs will touch or move others, whether it’s in a deep way or in a lighthearted / fun way. As a fan of other musicians, I really enjoy listening to songs that I can relate to and jam out to! I think that music is an art form that can be therapeutic to the writer / performer as well as the audience. But it’s even better when you can tap your toes or do a little dance!

I hope that people take what they need in that moment. Whether it’s a song like ‘Head Held High’ where you need a reminder that you’re not alone, no matter how difficult things can get. Or even ‘Lie to Me’ for when you’ve been in a relationship where there wasn’t much honesty. I think every listener interprets a song in their own way and will take what they need from it. If only ONE person can relate, be moved or touched by the music I write, then I feel like I’ve succeeded. It’s the cherry on top for me!

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
Yes. Continue to do what you love despite what people say. Don’t let the haters get to you! Always be your authentic self and never change. Fortunately, I learned this at an early age, and it has been engrained into me by my parents.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
People can go to my website (www.TheKendallGary.com) and there they will find how to connect with me, keep up with me via social media and / or sign up to be on the email listing. You can find my music on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon and other platforms. I have covers and my original music on my YouTube and Vevo channels. If you like what you hear, it would mean the world if you shared it with your family and friends!
