Meet Kendra Bradford

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Bradford.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
To sum it up, I love to make a statement with clothes I wear. Everyone has a perspective on life and mine is to make the best of each day. Have a positive mindset. Give your best. I love to give an impression of enjoying life, being thankful for the things that come my way, and helping benefit others as I go through each passing day. Your outfit makes a statement just like your words do.

Please tell us about your art.
Bella Envy’s Boutique story does not begin with thousands of dollars and the normal parade and fanfare of a women’s clothing store. It wasn’t birthed by a veteran businesswoman, accomplished marketing expert or aspiring entrepreneur. It started with a first grade teacher’s dream, a hopeful goal and a relentless passion for helping others reach their own personal best in life.

Straight out of high school I knew I had an undying passion for helping others. I jumped out there and instantly decided to get a college degree in business and in elementary education. The business degree would provide my baseline of knowledge, while the elementary education degree would help me with financial stability as well as working daily with children and helping to improve them academically.
From there, I started my first career teaching and simply adored teaching children. I loved working with each child and watching them learn and improve throughout the school year. They ultimately felt empowered and more confident. My teaching job allowed me to spend more time with my own children as well.

After 16 years in the education system, I really wanted to help people in different ways. Fashion was something I loved so I literally jumped out there and started an online business. The problem was, I didn’t know a thing about starting a business! I had no business experience. Despite all this, I am a woman with a mission and a goal, and I’ve never been one to quit. I made the decision to go for it. I personally designed my website and purchased cute clothing and BOOM; Bella’s Envy Boutique was born.

I want to inspire women to know that if I can do it, you can too! You start with baby steps and by putting one foot in front of the other. Chase your goals and never give up. Giving up is not an option. It’s just not. Challenge yourself even if means being scared while you do it. A wise person once told me “courage is being afraid to do something, but jumping out there anyway.”

My ultimate goal is to empower women to feel confident in their clothing and honestly just to feel good about themselves. Period. Bella’s Envy Boutique is not only to empower women but to show my two boys you can do anything you set your mind to. Reach for the stars!

You ask what do I create; I create an opportunity for women to feel confident and beautiful in captivating clothing at an affordable price.

What do you think about conditions for artists today? Has life become easier or harder for artists in recent years? What can cities like ours do to encourage and help art and artists thrive?
I definitely think businesses have a platform that wasn’t available in the years past. Social media has provided small business owners the ability to market their products to a wide range of people freely. It is a powerful tool and has provided small businesses a lifeline. I think it is generally getting easier to start a business today and therefore to become an entrepreneur pretty much anywhere. Take note: Voyage Dallas is a support system in which they provide a platform for small business owners as myself and encouraging artists to thrive in our communities. Encouragement goes a long way!
