Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin McDonald.
Hi Kevin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the real estate business when I was 18 years old. My older brother is a real estate broker and he encouraged me to get my license as a real estate agent right after my 18 birthday. You can say it’s been a family business for a while. And one of the main reasons I believe that creating a pathway to legacy for generations in your family is important.
I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. While I was in college, I would sell real estate as my side hustle all while navigating my class load and trying to land the career path that I wanted to explore. Summer months were extremely busy for my brother’s business, and I would go back home to Memphis and help assist with homes he was flipping. My duties ranged from painting to yard work or excavation. You can say I started from the bottom and now WE HERE!
Today, at the age of 36 I am one of the top-producing real estate agents out of hundreds in my office and run a small team. My goal is not to just sell real estate, but create generational wealth for my family all while connecting with my customers to deliver a full-service real estate and marketing experience!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
If you are looking for a smooth road for a career path, being an entrepreneur is not the way! Every entrepreneur faces challenges, obstacles, and setbacks, but standing the test of time is what sets you apart. One setback that will always resonate with my career journey is not knowing the exact pathway to take. The world will make you believe that being an agent is a side job, but I was on a quest to deliver the polar opposite to everyone around and for myself!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am not just a real estate agent; I am a marketing and storytelling expert that sells homes in a modern way! Every home I place on the market or show delivers a visual my clients can imagine. I showcase a lifestyle that my customers are proud to be a part of and they deserve to live in.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My wife definitely deserves credit. She’s been one of my biggest supporters. She’s an entrepreneur and we talk strategy all the time.
I’m a student of the industry. I watch and learn from everyone. There are a lot of people who directly and indirectly deserves credit. My advice is that you can learn from anyone and implement with your own unique approach.
