Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Williamson.
Hi Kevin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am from the South Side of Chicago, a resource and education poor environment. There were schools, but the type of resources and education that aid and improve your quality of living; nutrition, fitness, and mental well-being to name a few. My take to sports and exposure to other cities growing up really helped shape my passion and purpose early on. I always valued knowledge and for what the game of football provided for me, I knew I wanted to pay my experience and knowledge forward.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I believe that once you’ve discovered your purpose, you accept the struggles and adversity that come with it. My road has been far from smooth. I’ve missed meals, I’ve lived out of my car, I’ve lost relationships but one of the biggest struggles is the struggle of the mind. This road can be lonely at times and for anyone on the same road, keep going.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about PWR Performance?
Being from Chicago and having lived and experienced cities like Los Angeles and New York, I’ve learned just how important knowledge and resources are. I knew at a young age that in some way I would bring the two back. Back to my family, back to the generation behind me, and back to my home.
Sports put me on a path of determination to reach my potential, was my key into rooms unexplored, and allowed me to find my passion and ultimately my career choice. Through playing collegiately and then transitioning into coaching collegiately and professionally, I’ve learned so much worth disseminating to younger athletes. PWR Performance is an integrated sports performance company. An integration of the professional resources needed to perform both personally and athletically. An integration of both my personal and professional experience. Through coaching, I’ve experienced athletes grow in confidence, improve in performance, and accomplish their goals.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Too many come to mind. To highlight one though, would be block parties we had during my childhood. As an adult I recognize that we had community and having lived in more affluent areas, I understand just how important community is.
