Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Jones.
Kierra, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
In 2001, I joined the media team of the church I attended in Baltimore, Maryland; this was the very first time I operated a video camera. Fast forwarding to 2004, as a Broadcast Journalism student at Howard University, I gain in-studio and in-the-field filming experience.
Moving to Dallas, TX in 2009, after, literally, posting photography and videography service flyers on trees, my business kicked-off! Kierra C. Jones Productions officially operated as a one-woman, freelance organization. My first client was in 2003, videotaping a wedding. From there, I’ve had the pleasure of filming and photographing birthday’s, professional headshots, arena football games, corporate event and so much more!
Kierra C. Jones Productions now does one-on-one training sessions for individuals interested in gaining experience in photography and videography.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No road, when pursuing your dreams and goals, worth traveling, is smooth. I’ve faced struggles of no having clients for months. As an entrepreneur, you do what you do to bring in money, to put back into the business and repeat. Other struggles I’ve come across is handling filming and photography assignments all by myself. I’ve learned that as I grew skillfully and attracted more clients, I needed other skillful workers to get jobs done.
Kierra C. Jones Productions – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
As a company, we produce YouTube videos for people, conduct professional headshots and film and photograph events. We specialize in professional headshots and events.
I’m most proud of how far we’ve come and the clients we’ve served over the years. What sets us apart is our personalized customer service, and our turn-around time so clients aren’t waiting weeks and months to received their finished product.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as meeting and exceeding the expectations of the clients hiring us. Going above and beyond what is expected when operating in the field a person is skilled in is what success is to me.
