Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Adams.
Hi Kimberly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
As we know, Teachers are underpaid and overworked in most cases and I’m no different. I have a Business degree and have taught Marketing Education for 23 years. I’ve always had a second job or side gig for extra income but mostly because of my entrepreneurial drive to try new things! Getting into the yard greeting business was the perfect opportunity to feel that personal drive and challenge while overwhelmingly providing joy to so many families in my community that I service. I am a High school Marketing Teacher and DECA Advisor. I have taught Marketing for 23 years all at the same school. I am most proud of my involvement in DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), a student organization for members interested in business, marketing, hospitality, finance and entrepreneurship. The networking opportunities and leadership skills that this organization offers is incredible and so rewarding to provide to my students. I service as Texas DECA District 11 Director, supporting over 50 chapters in Dallas County and Rockwall County.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting your own business does bring challenges. Having the inventory to fill specific requests being a big one. Managing time to complete the job is also another challenge. Working full time as a High school Teacher, sponsoring an active student organization, DECA, supporting my son, who plays football and select baseball and of course, all the day-to-day responsibilities as a mom and wife. However, that is the beauty of this business, setting your own time to install and pick up the yard greetings!

What does success mean to you?
Success to me comes in many levels. I believe we should recognize and praise all the little steps it takes to get to the end or final result! Being successful doesn’t come without some failure. Learning from the mistakes, making adjustments and trying again and again and again if needed! Never giving up until you succeed!
