Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Ward.
Aside from Kirsten’s dissatisfaction with the way big medicine seemed to focus on profit rather than patient wellbeing, Kirsten was also drawn to natural medicine through her personal experiences. Kirsten had sought treatment for herself with naturopathic doctors and specialists for many years, but it was the transformative experience of her daughter that truly solidified her commitment to natural and holistic care.
Kirsten’s daughter, born in 1996, was repeatedly ill for the first several years of her life. As an infant, she was inconsolable with no diagnosis. For years, she battled chronic infections and had difficulty with social and emotional integration due to her deteriorating physical condition. Kirsten and her daughter visited doctors, specialists, and labs on a weekly basis. Countless hours were spent in waiting rooms and on hold with medical insurance companies trying to get authorization for testing, care, and treatments. When a doctor or treatment was ineffective, they would be sent in another direction to start all over again.
As she nursed her ailing daughter, Kirsten began pre-med coursework so that she could be a better advocate for her family’s health. These studies provided her with the information she needed to seek out an appropriate natural care program for her daughter. After careful research, she decided to take her daughter to the Pfeiffer Institute in Illinois, a leading institute in the evaluation and management of biochemical imbalance. After a workup at the institute, Kirsten’s daughter was given a course of amino acid therapy and a few simple diet modifications. Shortly thereafter, she began thriving physically, socially, and educationally. She was soon transferred out of the special education program that had previously been considered a long-term placement and finished out her years in school without further trouble. She is now a wonderfully healthy, well-adjusted, successful young adult.
After Kirsten saw her daughter to health, she used her studies to pursue a teaching certificate and became an educator in the sciences with a focus on biology. After years of teaching and continuing her own education, Kirsten is now a doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from Trinity School of Natural Health, a Certified thermography technician, Certified Health Specialist, Certified Natural Health Practitioner. Kirsten is committed to serving the community by promoting health education, customizing natural healing programs, and providing spiritual and emotional support for better living.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Most people go to their annual checkup with a fear in their hearts. They fear some kind of diagnosis that will indicate a long and difficult road ahead. This usually results from watching loved ones having gone through similar struggles and diagnoses.
The results from Thermography are not as scary. Because we can tell the terrain of the body, i.e. where it is struggling to do its job and where it is not, the individual has plenty of time to address the challenge before drastic measures need to be taken.
The medical community in the United States is fantastic at addressing the large and serious diagnoses. When someone has a diagnosis of Cancer, Heart Disease, etc., the medical community is there with a full-court press treatment plan.
We offer a pre-game game plan for supporting the natural healing processes of the human body. Plans usually involve short term targeted herbal or supplement support, nutritional adjustments and other lifestyle changes. Since Thermography is so non-invasive, it can be done with more frequency to monitor progress and thereby give the individual positive feedback. This positive feedback supports the lifestyle changes and frees up the medical community to utilize its full-court press, when it is truly necessary.
Please tell us about Ridglea Wellness.
Using Whole Body Regulation Thermgraphy allows us to hear the body whispers before they become screams and thereby support the body being able to heal itself. Thermography is simply the measurement of heat.
Thermal Bio-Scans measure cellular metabolism coupled with responses of the nervous system to record precise skin temperatures. The precise measurements are taken over specific organs and target areas such as the breast.
Thermal Bio-scans provide a visible measurement of the autonomic nervous system. This is often the key to knowledge regarding the mechanisms involved in the development of disease.
Our Thermal Bio-Scan provides a comprehensive assessment of the neurologically controlled terrains that often create or sustain disease environments.
By gathering clinical correlations from over 40,000 thermograms (over 15,000 patients) and using parallel radiology and pathology assessments, doctors were able to discover how patterns of thermoregulatory responses depict organ and tissue health and dysfunction. While X-Rays give a structural view, thermography gives us a completely non-invasive perspective of how your body is functioning.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is of making big meals with my family. Since my sister and parents were the only people from my family in the United States Thanksgiving and Christmas were always quiet, nuclear family event. My mother never really mastered the art of roasting a turkey, so she would make her family favorite: either a goose or a duck. While the goose or duck was roasting, the rest of us would be working on grinding the potatoes for Knoedel. We would spend hours working the potatoes through the Kitchen Aide while my Mother nursed the goose/duck. Whenever everything was finished, we would eat. This was a moving target that was dictated by whenever the goose/duck was cooked to perfection. The meal was accompanied by pickled red cabbage, homemade cranberry chutney and homemade gravy. We always enjoyed leftovers more…. the flavors had more time to blend together.
