Meet LaShaunte Beathea of Beahive Boutique in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaShaunte Beathea.

LaShaunte, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Beahive Boutique began in Feb 2019 after I wanted my daughter to celebrate Black History Month. To my surprise, there were no t-shirts or anything that represented and celebrated Black History, and that bothered me. I had recently found out that Black History Month was not celebrated at all at her school and I knew right then that I had to do something. I went home and made her a t-shirt with my cutting machine. From there, I began to make t-shirts for friends, family members, small businesses, and organizations. We have been in business for almost two years and have made over 500 t-shirts. Our focus now is to give people a voice through their apparel – t-shirts. We utilize our platform to encourage women, men, and people of color to speak freely and express themselves.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road in starting a business from the ground up. I am a wife and stay at home mother of three toddlers, in addition to running a business. Although I have a Finance degree and an MBA, this alone was not enough to run my business. I have had to invest in coaching courses and mentorship to help me reach my target audience and expand my reach. These courses have helped me to put systems in place to streamline my production, customer service, and marketing. The largest struggle is trying to find a balance between being a mother, wife, and business owner. My husband is very supportive in my endeavors and even helps me fulfill orders sometimes, but trying to find balance has still been a struggle.

Beahive Boutique – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Beahive Boutique is a t-shirt company that aims to create a community to empower women. We encourage women to speak their minds and to let the world know what they go through. Whether it be your motherhood journey, your road to recovery, your journey as a black woman in corporate America, or your life story, we encourage women to let the world know who they are. We are most known for our statement tees that consist of soft style t-shirts with bold expressions and sayings. As a company, we are most proud of the confidence we give women to live in their truth and not be afraid to speak up about what is going on in their lives. Beahive Boutique is set apart from others by our goal to uplift, empower, encourage, and support women of color in every phase of their life.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as being able to fulfill my purpose in life. If I can encourage one woman to believe in herself and not be afraid to go for her dreams, I am successful. Success is when you reach your goal of making life better and more manageable. My criteria for success are being focused, identifying a need, making a plan to fulfill the need and working towards meeting that need.
