Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToyia Dennis.
LaToyia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been in nonprofit management for nearly 20 years. I run an organization A Chance to Learn where we advocate early education. I host a summer learning camp for 3-year-olds through 2nd grade. I was asked if I could talk to the moms that send their kids to my camp because they were the same moms that were not engaged in their child’s education.
I agreed to teach a class on parent engagement and left there saying I wanted to motivate moms to be great women and extraordinary moms so that we raise better children.
From there, I launched the Motivated Mom Blog and Tour to help moms live a life of purpose, in abundance, financially free.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been rough. I think when you begin to pursue purpose, you will encounter challenges. I learned so many lessons especially with managing my money. I made really bad decisions with using my savings account to fund the Tour.
I quickly learned that Motivated Mom is a passion project until I begin making a profit.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about The Motivated Mom – what should we know?
The Motivated Mom platform is all about motivating moms to be great women and extraordinary moms. I offer motivation, inspiration, and education through my blog, live events, mompreneur programs, and will be launching an online course.
I am most proud that I get to motivate moms through experience and a passion to ensure that I do my part to help moms be PRESENT and PROFITABLE.
I think what sets me apart is my passion to see moms win. The Motivated Mom platform is not about me… it is about moms.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Authenticity – hands down, it is my ability to operate my business based on the passion and purpose and unique heart for others that God gave me.
