Meet Lilly Foster of Lilly Memory Photography in Bishop Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilly Foster.

Lilly, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2007, it was a career day at my small-town school in Edgewood, TX. I didn’t know much about the outside world or what jobs interested me I was just a kid full of wonder and curiosity. I found the people in my inner circle truly inspiring and that special career day I chose to be my Aunt Sheila. She was our local newspaper journalist with a gift for photography. After I cut my face out of a picture and glued them all over her old press badges, she knew I meant business and from then that created my entire love for photography. My aunt helped build my confidence by allowing me to use her camera and then she would enter my images into the county fair photography contest where I did get a few first and second place price ribbons. I eventually advanced years later when I could afford my passion and once I moved to Dallas in 2016, I realized just what the outside world entailed and what possibilities there were for me. Being a stay at home mom, I knew I wanted more for myself so the birth of Lilly Memory Photography was the start of something that I’m very proud of and continues to surprise me with breathtaking opportunities.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Far from it… I have this problem with quitting things before I really get started so there were a lot of doubts that I would just have expensive equipment collecting dust in the closet. I was a stay at home mom, and any parent knows how it’s really hard to get work done when a small human needs your every second but I did find time for my work and clients.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I would not classify my photography work in just any style since I work anywhere from newborn sessions all the way to weddings. I do love a good challenging session where the client puts me in full trust and allows me to make their images pop. I really focus on keeping images as natural as possible but you will notice I do like to keep my images vibrant, full of rich colors and have my models in very natural poses. I find my work very affordable; I love to meet new people and I think everyone should have beautiful memories to keep for years to come.

What were you like growing up?
I was the only child, I enjoyed putting on rock shows for my dad, climbing trees in the back yard, making art with my mom and enjoying the long summers spent with my grandma. I had friends but spending time with my family was the main reason I’ve grown into who I am today. To sum it up, I was just a very simple person with a huge imagination and a love for life.
